Education Day Celebration
The staff and the students of Paavai College of Education, Pachal, celebrated the Education Day for a week from 19th to 24th November 2012, on the college campus.
Throughout the week the B.Ed students engaged themselves in the preparation of the Education Day Celebration by writing essays on the topic "Education blessing to individual growth" both in English and in Tamil. Poem composition in Tamil on the topic "the Indian educationist who attracted me" was also conducted. Ten members on each topic in the event took part. Two students drew the pictures of great Indian Educationists in charts. Some were busy in preparing questions for conducting the Quiz Competition. The Quiz competition was really challenging to the participants.
There were many rounds. The general round, the audio-visual round and the rapid fire round provided an opportunity to the students to widen up their knowledge and be acquainted with the information in the field of education. The brain storming Quiz programme was conducted by M.Sowmiya for about forty minutes. There were four speeches, two speeches in English and two in Tamil highlighting the educational thoughts of "Swami Vivekananda", "Mahathma Gandhi", "Sri Aurubindu" and "Abdul Kalam". M. Banupriya spoke on the importance of Education day celebrations. Two songs were sung in Tamil glorifying the need for quality teacher education. Mr. P. Velumurgan and his party staged skit on "the role of Teachers". S. Bhuvaneswari with a group of students, performed a miming show on "the effect of education on untouchability."
On the concluding day, Dr. R. Kasthuri, Dean, Faculty Development, Paavai Institutions was invited to give a round-up to the celebration. The Chief guest in her speech explained the meaning and the impact of teacher education. Quoting from the lives of great teachers, she urged the student-teachers to prepare, practice learning items with utmost dedication, devotion and determination. The destiny of every nation is shaped only in the classrooms. Therefore teachers have a pivotal role to play in triggering the intelligence and the creativity of the learners. Throughout her speech she focused on value-based teaching methodologies.
A few students gave short speeches on the popular teachers. A group song dedicated to the teaching community was also sung.
The vote of thanks was proposed by S. Bhuvaneswari. And the memorable function came to an end with the National anthem.
