ANNUAL REPORT 2023-2024

It is with great pleasure I am, Dr.P.S. Venkatesan, Principal, Paavai College of Education present the Annual Report of the activities of Paavai College of Education for the academic year 2023-2024.

The College started functioning for the current academic year on 21st Septmber -2023. The inaugural function was chaired by the most honorable chairman Shri.CA.N.V.Natarajan, and the Kuthuvilakku was lit by Smt.Mangai Natarajan, correspondent, Paavai Educational Institutions, staff members, Students and Parents. .

As a testimony to our sincere efforts, this year, the institution has been crowned with 100% results, which include numerous first classes with distinctions both in practical and theory examinations held in the academic year 2023-2024

One of the special features of this college is that every day after Prayer, two students give a talk on any topic for five minutes.  Tamil and English news reading, Dhinam Oru Thirukkural, and a Proverb are given to the students in order to improve their communicative ability,

Another feature is the “Talent Search Programme” in which the Students are divided into small groups to undertake different cultural activities every week one after another to exhibit their talents. The motto for the programme is that, “NO Student is Left Behind” in the College activities.

The cultural activities enhance the confidence level of the students thereby allowing them to perform better. These activities develop the personality of the students and assist them in shaping a good career. In order to enhance the confidence level of the students we have conducted cultural activities like dance, drama, singing and competitions like elocution and quiz in the end of every month.

A number of other Programmes have been carried out as mentioned below.

On 15th July, Perunthalaivar Kamarajar Birthday was celebrated as Education Development Day. Dr.P.S.Venkatesan, Principal of Paavai College of Education, was the Chief Guest. In his special address, he listed out the contributions of Perunthalaivar Kamarajar for the betterment of Education. Various competitions like elocution and essay writing competitions were conducted amongst the students and the students were awarded with first and second prize.

On 5th September 2023 Teachers’ Day was celebrated in a devotional and spirited way by organising Guru Vanakkam at Anandha Arangam. In the presidential cum welcome address, Chairman, Shri.CA.N.V.Natarajan congratulated all the students for having strong faith and trust in their teachers to perform Paadha Pooja. Dr. C. Sathish, Director, Paavai Group of Schools was the chief guest. In his address, he stated, that he was immensely pleased to be in a serene, divine and blessed atmosphere where the spirits of the entire crowd have been elevated in the Arangam. He appreciated the students for excellent rendition of the bhajans.

Students from Paavai College of Education participated as enumerators for the mission Ennum Ezhuthum for the classes 1, 2 and 3 in government schools in Tamil Nadu to tackle the learning gap caused due to school closures during the COVID -19 lockdown. 12 students were divided into two groups and each group has visited 6 schools in Puduchatiram Union and has conducted 9 days training for the elementary school students.

The State Education Achievement Survey- 2023 (SEAS) was conducted for the elementary level school students. 15 Students from Paavai College Education has participated as invigilators.

From 7th September -2023 onwards, our II Year B.Ed., students were deputed for 80 days of teaching internship in nearby 26 Government high School and Higher Secondary Schools of Namakkal district for getting teaching Practice to improve their teaching ability as prescribed in the curriculum. They had successfully carried on their training programme with the co-operation of the guide teachers and Headmasters.

We also thank the CEO, DEO of Namakkal for their continuous support in training our students in government schools of Namakkal Salem Districts.

A four day Induction programme tpij !!! for the 1st year B.Ed,, students was held from 19.09.2023 to 21.09.2023 at Prestige Hall. The inauguration was held at Pragathi Hall on 19.09.2023, Shri.CA.N.V.Natarajan Chairman of Paavai Educational Institutions, emphasized the importance of education. He compared Paavai with a Kuthuvilaku, that students, teachers, parents, society and the management form the five faces of education. Smt. Mangai Natarajan, Correspondent stated that students should be disciplined, bold and courageous to do a right thing at a right time. She highlighted on “Think and Link, Link and Think”.

On 20.10.2023, Saraswathi Pooja was conducted with usual joy. The students drew the Portrait of Goddess “Saraswathi” in Rangoli. At the function the students chanted religious songs and 108 Namaavali while offering flowers and Naivathiyam to Goddess Saraswathi. As a special performance, the students arranged a Golu with different types of dolls on this occasion.

Young Voter enrollment camp was held on 07.11.202. The special guest Mr. M.K.Saravanan, in his special address expressed his gratification on seeing wholesome voters in Paavai Educational Institution. He insisted all those who have attained the age of 18 to add their name to the electoral roll.

A Guest Lecture on the topic “Rebranding the Identity” was organized by FDD on 20.11.2023 to 21.11.2023 at Smart Hall. Dr. R. Kasthuribai, Retired Professor of English, an iconic speaker and a prolific writer was the Resource person. The session started with the speaker stating that the teachers have a prime duty to create a dynamic learning environment for the students to become engaged, participative and contributive. She emphasized much on collaborative thinking, ICT tools used for education, and STEM education in the field of education.

Teacher’s Empowerment Progamme Series – 1 was organized for the student teachers on 09.12.2023. In this session, Shri CA.N.V.Natarajan, Chairman and Smt. Mangai Natarajan, Correspondent, of Paavai Institutions listed out the objectives and the recent advances in the field of teaching and assigned the student teachers as five groups and gave the assignment topics on Pedagogy.  He explained about the purpose of effective teaching, in that he dealt on creative thinking, innovation, interest, productive thinking and assertive learning. Further he deliberated on stages of learning and learning techniques.

India is a Land of festivals. Every festival is celebrated with enthusiasm. It is also our culture. Among other festivals, Pongal is the harvest festival. On 9th January 2024, Paavai college of Education had conducted Pongal celebrations in a grand manner. Shri. CA. N. V. Natarajan, Chairman and Smt. Mangai Natarajan, Correspondent, Paavai Educational Institutions presided over the function. Director Administration, Principals of Paavai Institutions and faculty members participated in this celebration.

In Yercaud, a 3 day residential Programme “Beyond Boundaries” has been conducted by Mrs. Sheetaal Gandhi and her team, the International Trainer on 4th January2024 to 7th January 2024.

In Yercaud, a residential Programme entitled Invigorate-2024 was conducted for our Staff members on 10th January 2024 to 13th January 2024 by Mrs. Sheetaal Gandhi, the International Trainer and her team,

On 7th February-2024, “Youth festival on National Integration Day was celebrated. Nearly 1500 students from various Government, Government Aided, Matriculation and CBSE Schools were participated in various competitions like oratorical, Essay writing, Singing, Drawing, Poem writing, Quiz, Rangoli, Dance etc. and the first two winners in each event were awarded and participation certificates were issued to all those participated students.

Teacher’s Empowerment Progamme Series – II was organized for the student teachers on 17.02.2024. One student from the already assigned five groups presented the assignment in the given topics. The session was ended with Chairman sir review about the assignment.

 As a part of our academic programme, Seminars were conducted for B.Ed., students in their Core, Elective and Optional Subjects. The students themselves prepared and presented Papers on different topics assigned to them under the guidance of the Teacher educators.

.On 9th March 2024, Graduation day was conducted for 2018- 2020, 2019 -2021, and 2020-2022 batch students. Around 146 students 94 students were present and got their Degree in the forenoon session. In the afternoon session Alumni meet was planned. A good number of those three batches of students have already been appointed as teachers in various schools and a few are pursuing their post graduate studies. We are proud to say that 90% of the students have been appointed in government and private schools and a few run their own business.

On May 2nd, Annual Sports day was conducted in Paavai Educational Institutions. The staff members and students of Paavai College of Education, who have participated in various sports and games were awarded with certificates and Medals by the esteemed chief guest Mr. S. Aruna, Zonal senior Manager of the Tamil Nadu Sports Development authority in Coimbatore.

On 8th May, Youth Red Cross of Paavai Institutions celebrated world “Youth Red cross day” in Visvesvaraya Hall between 9.15 am to 12.30. pm. Dr. I. Rajendran, Dean R&I and Dr. P.S. Venkatesan, Principal Paavai College of Education were the Chief guest of this programme. Mr. S. Sathish, YRC Faculty co-ordinator and K. Kabilan, YRC Student Co-ordinator handled the orientation session for the new volunteers.  

 On 11-05-2024 Teachers Empowerment programme series III was organised for the first year and second year B.Ed., students of Paavai College of Education at Brilliant hall to enhance the qualities of teacher. Dr.P.S.Venkatesan, Principal, Paavai Collge of Education, Dr. K. Selvi, Dean Academics and Dr. J. Mursitha Banu, Head  FDD presided over the function. In her special address Mrs. C.Jayalakshmi, mam highlighted the importance of education was given by PPT with audio and visual representations. She addressed qualities of teacher and approaches taken by the teacher in the classroom activities and need to know our students. She listed out the three categories of the students with Tamil literary examples.

On 20.05.2024, the Tamil forum of Paavai Educational Institutions organized the Tamil speech contest on the topic ghujpjhrd; tpoh> ghujpahh; fz;l ghurf;jp> ghujpjhrd; fz;l khDl rf;jp. Thiru. Gnana. Narayana Moorthy, Secretory, Tamil sangam, Namakal was the Chief guest. First year and Second year B.Ed., students  attended the forum.

The Tamil forum of Paavai Educational Institutions organized the Thirukural Vinadi Vina programme on 10.06.2024. Dr. Manimegalai Ramamourty, a Professor at the Florida Institute of Technology, USA graced the event as the Chief guest. Our students attended the programe and got inspired.

The staff members and First year and Second year students of our Paavai College of Education attended one day seminar on Women Health Care conducted by the department of Management studies on 12.06.2024 at Kalam’s Chamber. Dr. Vani Pujari, Dr. V.K Sudarsanam and Dr. Parai Kodaiarasan were the Chief Guest. They addressed amongst the students and answered the health related questions asked by the staff members and students.

With the blessings of God, the Almighty, and the Blessings of the Management, the institution will definitely grow to its heights and serve the society. We thank the members of the Paavai Varam Educational Trust for their unending efforts to make this institution greater.
