It is with great pleasure I present the Annual Report of the activities of the Paavai College of Education for the academic year 2015-2016
The College started functioning for the current year on 9th September-2015. 63 women and 17 Men Candidates are undergoing the B.Ed., course this year in Paavai College of Education. The inaugural function was chaired by the Respected Chairman sir and he lit the Kuthuvilakku. As a great gesture of giving divine respect to parents, the B.Ed students performed Padha Pooja to their parents who have accompanied them for the inaugural function
As a testimony to our sincere efforts, this year also, the institution has been crowned with 100% results, which include numerous first classes with distinctions both in practical and theory examinations held in the academic year 2014-2015
One of the Special features of this college is that everyday after Prayer, two students give a talk for five minutes on any topic, Tamil and English news reading, Dhinam Oru Thirukkural, and a Proverb are given by the students in order to improve their communicative ability.
Another feature is the “Talent Search Programme” in which the Students are divided into small groups to undertake different cultural activities every week, one after another to exhibit their talents. The motto for the programme is that, “NO Student is Left Behind” in the College activities.
A number of other Programmes have been carried out as mentioned below.
On 28th September, 2015 the “All Subjects Association” was inaugurated by Mr.Nanjil Nadan , a writer in Tamil. The office bearers for the academic year 2015-2016 were nominated.
A 3 day programme of CCE was conducted from 30-09-2015 to 01.10.2015 and 10.10.2015. The technical sessions of the Seminar consisted of various activities. Experts in various Subjects and resource persons from Government Schools trained the Students in enriching their teaching abilities by providing new innovative techniques in teaching.
On 20th October, 2015, Saraswathi Pooja was celebrated with usual joy. The students drew the Portrait of Goddess ‘Durgai’ in Rangoli. At the function, the students chanted religious songs and 108 Namavali while offering flowers and Naivaithyum to Goddess Saraswathi. As a special performance, the students arranged a Golu with different types of dolls on this occasion.
On 31st October, 2015, weekly group activity was conducted by “Aambal” group students. On that talent search program, “Aambal” group students did several cultural activities
On 07th November, 2015, weekly group activity was conducted by “Parichith” group students. On that talent search program, “Parichith” group students conducted several game shows and cultural events
On 14th November 2015, weekly group activity was conducted by “Senkathal†group students. On this talent search program, “Senkathal” group students did several cultural activities
On 17th November, 2015, 48th library week function was celebrated by “Namakkal district library & Vasagar vattam” in Visweswaraya hall. The function was chaired by the Respected Chairman sir. At the function Namakkal district library staff participated.
On 21th November, 2015, weekly group activity was conducted by “Magilam” group students. On that talent search program, “Magilam” group students did several cultural activities
On 28th November, 2015, weekly group activity was conducted by “Athiral” group students. On that talent search program, “Athiral” group students did several cultural activities
From 08th December-2015 to 30th December, the Term Examinations were conducted for the IGNOU students in our exam centre.
On 11th December, 2015, weekly group activity was conducted by “Spartans” group students. On that talent search program, “Spartans” group students did several cultural activities
A 2 day programme of life skill training was conducted by Mr.C.Loganathan, HOD A/V Department from 21-01-2016 to 22-01-2016. The technical sessions of the Seminar consisted of various activities. Experts in various Subjects and resource persons from Government Schools
trained the Students in enriching their teaching abilities by providing new innovative techniques in teaching.
On 12th February 2016, National Integration Day was celebrated, Nearly 2000 students from various Government , Government Aided , Matriculation and CBSE Schools participated in the various competitions like Oratorical, Essay writing, Singing, Drawing, Poem writing, Quiz, Rangoli, Dance, etc. and the first three winners in each event were awarded.
From January 25th onwards, our B.Ed., students were deputed for 20 days to nearby 17 Government high Schools and Higher Secondary Schools for teaching Practice to improve their teaching ability as prescribed in the curriculum . They have successfully completed their training programme with the co-operation of the guide teachers and Headmasters.
In Yercaud, a 3 day residential programme of ACHARYA-2016 will be conducted in March of this year
As a part of our academic Programme, Seminars were conducted for B.Ed., students in their Core, Elective and Optional Subjects. The Students themselves prepared and presented Papers on different topics assigned to them under the guidance of the Teacher educators.
We sincerely thank the CEO, DEO of Namakkal and Salem for their continuous support in training our students in government schools of Namakkal and Salem Districts.
A good number of present batch of students have already been appointed as teachers in various schools and a few are pursuing post graduate studies. We are proud to say that 90% of the students have been appointed in government and private schools and a few run their own schools.
With the blessings of God, the Almighty and the Blessings of the Management, the institution will definitely grow to its heights and serve the society. We thank the members of the Paavai Varam Educational Trust for their continuous efforts to make this institution greater.
