It is with great pleasure that I present the Annual Report of the activities of Paavai College of Education for the academic year 2018-2019.
The College started functioning for the current academic year on 06th September -2018. The inaugural function was chaired by the Respected Chairman sir, and the Kuthuvilakku was lit by the Correspondent Madam. As a great gesture of giving divine respect to parents, the B.Ed students performed Padha Pooja to their parents who have accompanied them for the inaugural function
As a testimony to our sincere efforts, this year also, the institution has been crowned with 100% results, which include numerous first classes with distinctions both in practical and theory examinations held in the academic year 2017-2018
One of the special features of this college is that every day after Prayer, two students give a talk on any topic for five minutes in both languages. Tamil and English news reading, Dhinam Oru Thirukkural, and a Proverb are given by the students in order to improve their communicative ability.
Another feature is the “Talent Search Programme” in which the Students are divided into small groups to undertake different cultural activities every week one after another to exhibit their talents. The motto for the programme is that, “NO Student is Left Behind” in the College activities.
A number of other programmes have been carried out as mentioned below.
One day Motivational speech programme was conducted by our Chairman sir, on 22.09.2018. In his speech he pointed out the milestones of goal settings in his life and told about the importance of it to the students.
From August 1st onwards, our B.Ed., students were deputed for 80 days to nearby 17 Government high and Higher Secondary Schools for teaching Practice to improve their teaching ability as prescribed in the curriculum . They have successfully completed their training programme with the co-operation of the guide teachers and Headmasters.
Youth Empowerment and Leadership Interaction session with Padmashri. Kamal Hasan was held on 13.10.2018. Students of our Paavai college of Education actively interacted in that session
On 22th October, 2018 Saraswathi Pooja was celebrated with usual joy. As per the mythological stories, it was on this day that Goddess Saraswati created powerful weapons to kill the demon named ‘Magishasuran’. The weapons were then considered to be Holy and people
began to worship them. This tradition is followed till date and began to be celebrated as ‘Ayudha Puja’. On this chosen day, people worship their tools and weapons, used in day-to-day life.
During the Navratri celebrations in South India, the first 8 days are dedicated to varied forms of Goddess Shakti and last day is devoted completely to Goddess Saraswati.
The students drew the Portrait of Goddess ‘Saraswathi’ in Rangoli. At the function, the students chanted religious songs and 108 Namavali while offering flowers and Naivaithyum to Goddess Saraswathi. As a special performance, the students arranged a Golu with different types of dolls on this occasion.
India is a land of festivals. Every festival is celebrated with enthusiasm. It also represents our culture. Among other festivals, Pongal is also one of them. It is the harvest festival. It is dedicated to the Sun god and corresponds to the Makar Sankranti.
0n 12.01.2019 Pongal celebration was conducted in a grand manner. On that day morning session was celebrated by making pongal and in the afternoon session various competitions like Rangoli, Musical Chair, Uriadithal, and some games like fill the water in a bottle, spoon and lemon, thread the needle games were conducted and the winners were awarded.
On 01st Febuary-2019, Youth festival on National Integration Day was celebrated. Nearly 2000 students from various Government, Government Aided, Matriculation and CBSE Schools Participated in the various competitions like Oratorical, Essay writing, Singing, Drawing, Poem writing, Quiz, Rangoli, Dance, etc. and the first three winners in each event were awarded.
As a part of our academic programme, Seminars were conducted for B.Ed., students in their Core, Elective and Optional Subjects. The students themselves prepared and presented Papers on different topics assigned to them under the guidance of the Teacher educators.
We also thank the CEO, DEO of Namakkal and Salem for their continuous support in training our students in government schools of Namakkal and Salem Districts.
In Yercaud, a 3 day faculty & Student residential programme entitled PAAVAI ACHARYA’19 was conducted by Mr. Karthik & team, the International trainer, from 02.05.2019 to 04.05.2019.
A good number of present batch of students have already been appointed as teachers in various schools and a few are pursuing post graduate studies. We are proud to say that 90% of the students have been appointed in government and private schools and a few run their own schools.
With the blessings of God, the Almighty, and the Blessings of the Management, the institution will definitely grow to its heights and serve the society. We thank the members of the Paavai Varam Educational Trust for their unending efforts to make this institution greater.
